HOME AT LAST

On Saturday, September 5, 2009, Martha Splain and Vincent Peppe began fostering Odie with every intention to adopt him. We would like to thank Odie's foster mother Lauralyn Chrisley, Mardy Fones and Dr. Carol Machery.

Day off

My fm took the day off today, so she is appropriately available to provide us treats throughout the day. 'Bout time!

I'm a handsome guy

Here's a pic Mr. Rob took of me at M&G on Saturday - I think it shows off my dreamy eyes very well. By the way, if you're really sweet and pet me really nice, I chatter softly! It makes my FM putty in my paws. Oh, and yesterday, I roooooooed, quietly, in my sleep! It was a very long roo, and it didn't even wake me up. I think that scored me some points too, hehe.

Oh, yeah...I'm getting this game all figured out!

First Meet & Greet

I heard these things were fun. Oh, man - everyone's here!!! (That's foster Zoe's bum on the right, incidentally. I thought she was in more pics, but at least we got one of her...um...best assets!)

Kendal was his usual stressed-out self. (Sorry, he already has a forever home!)

Kassard is up for adoption - boy, is this guy cut! The ladies were swooning.

Two-headed dog?? Nah, it's just Judy and me. We'd make a greyt matched set; we're both very friendly and social AND small-animal safe!

Tequila was working the crowd! Human...

...and canine. MY Chuckie!!

That was fun! But it's been a long day. Nap time...later...

A Brief Encounter

I think this is what they call a "play date."

She was really pretty, and she had a nice place. Soft beds, fresh water, nice, big yard...

Aww...I hafta say, she's a sweet little thing.

I think she might be a pretty okay hound to adopt...after me!!!

What's up?

Hi there! Ok, so here's what's up with me: I've been taking antibiotics for a sore toe, and I get my stitches out today from my big-boy surgery. I'm cool with this new life of mine, for the most part. I go into my crate obediently every morning, but I give my FM an earful about it when she gets home from work. (She gives me antibios in cheese with that whine!)

At first, I was so excited, I just had to get up and stick my long nose in my FM's face several times a night - and, of course, WAAAAAAAG!!! Now, I'm getting used to this sleeping all night thing.

I think I've gotten the idea on doing my business outside. People get really excited when I go outside - I like that! And while we're on the subject, I don't mean to brag, but I can pee longer than any dog you ever saw. It's a gift; what can I say? :)

Hoping to see you all at 100 Oaks this weekend. I'm a very friendly, social guy, so please come say hi! I'll be putting on my best smile and wagging wagging wagging for my forever home.

Friday

My foster mom thought that taking a picture of me against a really dirty glass door would make my shiny black coat stand out.

Foster mom weighs in

I just have to add a note about how impressed I am with Odie. He is incredibly sweet, well-mannered, and DROP-DEAD gorgeous!!!

Waggin' it up in Nashville

Hi! I'm in my new foster home! Everything is very strange, and I'm confused, but I'm taking it all in stride. I'm a happy, outgoing, eager-to-please boy, and I am a bigtime wagger (as you can see).

Everybody keeps talking about how handsome I am - it's making me blush! (But I have to admit, it's true.) I can't wait to find out what's next in this retirement thing!! Stay tuned...

Odie is Stunning!!!

Hi - Beth here I just have to tell you a little bit about my first meeting with Odie - loved his cut and body structure - he is a looker for sure and has that wonderful white on him....ummm handsome for sure - long, lean and that beautiful shiny black that is almost blue...like when I first met my Homey Hound - just takes your breath away!!! Hoola took my breath away by his personality first and foremost but I believe each and every hound has their own special qualities.

But now on to his personality at our first meeting - shy is how I would explain it but then after a few weeks with Stone (another wonderful boy) he came out of his shell and they became best buddies - when they arrived at my house this past Saturday Stone was ready to rock and roll and Odie was too, needless to say I was thrilled at how much Odie had come out, he and Stone are a pair for sure.

Odie is a loving soul but really likes to have another grey around - not to say he couldn't be an only by any means (that will have to be determined by others) but the bonding that took place in a couple of weeks with he and Stone really brought out the personality in Odie, which I found interesting since Stone is deaf and you would think another grey would be his leader in a sense, but very suprising to me but Stone loves to play and seems quite confident in himself but as Carol noted he has been deaf since birth so to him it is what it is and he apparently gave Odie that sense of confidence he needed.

So upon Odie's arrival he was happy, cheerful and seemed to be ready to start retirement, even though he wasn't sure what that meant I am sure, he has a lot of things to learn and they will be fun things for sure.

I am a huge fan of the black hounds and find them stunning anyway - but with Odie's long sleek look he sure stands out in a crowd!
